Stepping out from his role as frontman/guitarist with accomplished Perth indie-surf-rockers Stillwater Giants, Margaret River native Henry Clarke is pleased to announce the launch of his debut EP I’m Saved under the moniker of Duncan Saige.
As most singer-songwriters do, Henry gradually assembled various ideas and riffs over time, but the difference in direction started to forge and reveal a new creative outlet. Fast forward countless hours of craft later and the result is an EP’s worth of material for Duncan Saige to now release and tour upon.
Following on from the breezy melodies of first single I Notice You, which racked up spins on triple j and countless other key community stations, I’m Saved is another infectious slice of songwriting that tells the tale of catching that last train of the evening to get back to the one you love.
A departure from the raucous tendencies of the Giants, Duncan’s writing process thrives in an acoustic setting where songs are then further fleshed out in the studio with Duncan performing all the instrumentation himself. Inspired by the likes of Kurt Vile, Bob Evans and The Tallest Man On Earth, Duncan teamed up with Perth engineer Sam Ford (Pond, Abbe May) to lay down an effortless brand of sunny indie-pop.
Fronting a four-piece band, Duncan Saige will be launching I’m Saved in WA this September as he prepares for a busy Spring/Summer in support of the new material which he plans to tour nationwide.
