Hailing from (R)Adelaide the sultry MANE has just released new video for her latest release ‘ What if the love dies’ a melodic exploration of long distance love. We caught up with MANE to chat about the artistic video and the concept behind it. Catch her on tour later this year.
The video is quite artistic, what was the concept behind the blind folds?
I’m a fan of visual things having a real distorted sense of reality, I’ve always liked when something has been a little weird and detached because it challenges me to create more meaning and understanding. I think having the blind folds helped accomplish that intention and also quite literally played on the whole “love is blind” narrative, which was fitting for the song.
Was it a challenge to film the entire clip blindfolded?
My spacial awareness definitely went out the window, I’m a pretty clumsy person naturally so it was kind of hilarious to begin with but because we had to film so many takes from different angles with different set ups I well and truly was on top of it by the end of the day.
What inspired you to write the song?
Watching someone go through the highs and lows and complications of maintaining a long distance relationship.
Have you had any long distance relationships and if so, what was the greatest challenge you faced?
Recently I have, unfortunately it didn’t work out, I think it’s a bit too fresh to talk about at this stage. It’s definitely tough though.
You’ve been touring Europe, how has that been?
UK and Europe was amazing, it’s such an exciting scene over there. Everyone really gets around the music and I had the good fortune of playing some pretty amazing shows. I’m very keen to get back there as soon as possible.
What are you most looking forward to when you return to Australia?
It’s nice to be headlining a show in Adelaide again being my home state but I had so much fun in Melbourne last year so I am very keen to get back there with the whole band.
What projects have you got in store next for your fans?
I Have a few potential singles in the works at the moment and I think each new song I’m writing is getting better and stronger. I’m hoping others feel the same also! I’ve started trying my hand at producing so it’s nice to be able to have that little bit more creative control and personal touch.
