heaps good friends

Sit down and strap in – your bestest HEAPS GOOD FRIENDS are all kinds of proud to release their new single ‘I Could Eat a Full Packet of Yo Yo’s’ and announce their anticipated debut EP Hug Me. The third single from the Adelaide trio, ‘I Could Eat a Full Packet of Yo Yo’s’ was premiered on Good Nights with Linda Marigliano on triple j last night and follows fan favourites ‘Olympic Sneakers’ and ‘Let’s Hug Longer’. The single is out now on all streaming services, and the Hug Me EP will be out on March 2 through the band’s own label and distributed by Kobalt/AWAL.

Listen to ‘I Could Eat a Full Packet of YoYos’ here.

Heaps Good Friends – Emma Fradd (vocals / guitar), Nick O’Connor (bass / vocals) and Dan Steinert (drums) – are the trio known for delivering lyrically playful, synth pop treats. ‘I Could Eat a Full Packet of Yo Yo’s’ is fast moving, quick witted and every morsel a dancefloor pop banger, kicking off with driving bass lines and teasing arpeggios. And we have to say standing ovation, honourable mention – whatever you want to call it – the synth outro deservedly gets it.

Also featuring the singles ‘Let’s Hug Longer’ – currently in the top 10 most played tracks on triple j for this year – and ‘Olympic Sneakers’ which are both deep in six-digit streams on Spotify, Hug Me is the forthcoming debut EP from Heaps Good Friends set for release early 2018. Written between cities 2000 km apart then brought to life in Nick’s home studio in the Adelaide Hills, Hug Me is a pocketful of fireworks, an explosion of synths, catchy hooks and undeniable beats. It’s the collection of everyday observations and daily reminders of three buddies about vulnerability, video games, parties, new musical toys and being awake at night when everyone else is asleep.

Heaps Good Friends formed after Emma and Nick met at the old Gladstone Gaol in South Australia, where Nick recorded Emma’s first demo in the K wing. The latest addition of drummer Dan completes their set-up, and together they started to show Australia what they’ve got. Their stellar 2017 featured a national tour with The Jungle Giants, an impromptu BIGSOUND appearance and a coveted triple j Unearthed performance slot at the sold out fun fest that was this year’s Groovin’ the Moo.
